The Border: Eighteen months ago, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer was excoriated for warning of spillover from Mexico‘s war reaching our soil. Well, beheadings are becoming common now. Yet that war is still ignored.
Leading the charge in the summer of 2010, Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank blasted Republican Gov. Brewer for claiming that Arizona’s “law enforcement agencies have found bodies in the desert either buried or just lying out there that have been beheaded.”
Brewer did admit she was in error at the time, but that’s not what really interested Milbank and his fellow media minions.
In his column, Milbank cast Brewer’s claim as misinformation intended to scare people into thinking violence from illegal immigration is worse than it actually is.
“Border violence on the rise? Phoenix becoming the world’s No. 2 kidnapping capital? Illegal immigrants responsible for most police killings? The majority of those crossing the border are drug mules? All wrong,” Milbank wrote.
He wasn’t the only one to pile on — CBS and the Guardian also jumped in.
Just one problem, though. Brewer may have jumped the gun months ago, but cartel beheadings have become a reality in Arizona — and are now jumping to other states. Read the rest at Investors.com
An Arizona law that has already cut abortions 30 percent and led to the shut down of Planned Parenthood abortion clinics in the state has survived a legal challenge from the abortion business and a lawsuit it filed.
Planned Parenthood has decided to end its legal attack on Arizona’s Abortion Consent Act, according to a court order issued Monday. Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund together with the Center for Arizona Policy, the Bioethics Defense Fund, and the Life Legal Defense Foundation defended the law. In August, the Arizona Court of Appeals lifted an injunction against the law and determined that it was constitutional.
“A woman’s right to make a fully informed choice is more important than Planned Parenthood’s desire to profit from abortions,” said ADF Senior Counsel Steven H. Aden, who argued before the Court of Appeals on June 14. “Without this legal roadblock, women will now be better protected–and so will pro-life medical professionals whom the law protects from being coerced into participating in abortions.”
“Everyone deserves full and accurate information before undergoing any medical procedure,” said Center for Arizona Policy Legal Counsel Deborah Sheasby, co-counsel and one of nearly 2,100 attorneys in the ADF alliance. “These types of protections have been repeatedly upheld and are overwhelmingly supported by the public.” Read the rest at Life News http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/15/arizona-law-cutting-abortions-30-survives-legal-attack/
Congress might stop States from enforcing immigration laws — HOT – please read!!
September 15, 2011 by randyedye
Concerned Citizens and Immigration Reformers,
PLEASE READ THIS – IT IS MOST IMPORTANT RELATING TO IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT
The U.S. House Judiciary committee is considering H.R. 2885, a bill that includes E-Verify and has many good features, HOWEVER it would take away [preempt] the right of all States to pass any new State immigration enforcement legislation and it will undo existing State enforcement legislation, such as Arizona’s and our recent legislative success in North Carolina.
This legislation, H.R. 2885 cannot be allowed to move forward unless the state preemption language is removed. We have seen Congressional legislation come and go and often it is not funded. To take away now the rights of States to take action unless years and years of real action and immigration enforcement at the federal level actually happens is naive and foolish.
Unfortunately NumbersUSA is encouraging H.R. 2885 as is, and is hiding the state preemption matter from its members. We have partnered with NumbersUSA in the past, but I find it troublesome that they are taking their position.
If If If the preemption clause is removed, we will support H.R. 2885 and hope it is funded and actually does something.
CONGRESSMAN HOWARD COBLE FROM NORTH CAROLINA IS ON THE U.S. HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE.
CALL CONGRESSMAN COBLE AT 202-225-3065 AND DO IT NOW PLEASE. THIS IS IMPORTANT.
Thanks and send this email to your friends and associates.
