Attempting to obey God and follow Jesus Christ our Lord

Is Trump God’s Answer

This coming election is one that faces us to make a choice that is not as clear cut as I would personally like. I know I can’t support any of the democrats who are running, their path leads away from God and that is not the direction that I want to go.

I honestly like the way Mr. Trump is willing to stand for what he believes no matter what and that he really seems to want to make this country great again. But I have questions as to what his idea of great is. I am not so sure that it is the same as mine! That being said, I would like to caution people to take Glen Beck and all Mr. Trump’s detractors with a very large grain of salt. Their vitriol seems very disturbing. Is there an agenda we don’t know? What is the reason for this seeming hatred? Mr. Beck is very good at telling us he listens when God talks to him but is he putting his faith in God? Or is he, perhaps, putting his will first?

Again, that being said, I am not sure Mr. Trump is the right choice!! I like Mr. Cruz and Mrs.Fiorini as well as Mr. Rubio to a certain degree. I know God uses imperfect people to lead the way and sometimes chooses one most would consider the fool.

“1 Samuel 8New International Version (NIV)

Israel Asks for a King
8 When Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons as Israel’s leaders.[a] 2 The name of his firstborn was Joel and the name of his second was Abijah, and they served at Beersheba. 3 But his sons did not follow his ways. They turned aside after dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice.

4 So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. 5 They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead[b] us, such as all the other nations have.”

6 But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. 7 And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. 8 As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. 9 Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will claim as his rights.”

10 Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who were asking him for a king. 11 He said, “This is what the king who will reign over you will claim as his rights: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. 12 Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. 14 He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. 16 Your male and female servants and the best of your cattle[c] and donkeys he will take for his own use. 17 He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. 18 When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.”

  1. Excellent post, Loopyloo.

They turned aside after dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice.

In this I see Glenn Beck who has anointed himself the voice of reason and messenger.

Beck is either off his rocker or has exposed himself as a deceiver. Bad move for Ted Cruz whom I fear Beck is dragging down the rabbit hole with him by aligning himself with one who is guilty of the hate, discourse and use of the very same Alinksyite tactics that he accused Progressives of engaging and for which (or so we thought) he disdains.

I, too, am between Cruz and Trump on this but while Trump loses it every now and then, he somehow appears to be in control. Trump is a master at social media tactics and darned good at fighting back. He’s at his best when his opponent becomes emotional. In this instance, it’s Ted Cruz, Glenn Beck, National Review and collaborators.

They keep screaming about “Conservatism” and I think are beating the wrong drum. See Bob Montgomery’s post yesterday which alludes to where I’m going on this. (Of Nationalist Populism and Labels )

    • You are so right about Beck and I hope Cruz will distance himself from it a little. I read Bob’s post, it was excellent!!! Conservative Treehouse has a lot of excellent points as well. I especially like the way Rush is not interfering. I am torn between Cruz and Trump, I go back and forth. I am just going to have to wait this one out ! God is so good that He has given us great choices, we just need to really listen! Love you my friend and God bless you!

      • Ditto all of the above, Loopyloo. God bless you as well, my friend.

  3. Although he may be brusque and outspoken, what he is saying is what this country is in great need of, someone who wants to make America great again, someone who is not tied to the PAC’s, the “Good Old Boy” Washington Political machine nor someone who is indebted to anyone for their support, other than the American voter.. Furthermore, when anyone talks about what a terrible choice he is, all I can respond to that is: Can four years of Donald Trump possibly, or even remotely, be anywhere near as bad as the last seven years of the Imam that currently inhabits the Great White Mosque on Pennsylvania Avenue? Give him a chance to right the “Ship of State”. We need a Commander-in-Chief who has the respect of the troops that he commands not one who leaves them without clear rules of engagement and for that matter, just leaves them. Thank you for this forum loopy.. God Bless America, she needs it now, more than ever.

    • I must admit that I am torn! I find Mr. Trump refreshing and I hope that if he does become President he would succeed in what he is promising! Right now I am still watching!

  4. As there are many options now loopy, there are really few legitimate choices. If WE do not like what WE have allowed the pundits (of both parties) in Washington (DC) to do to this country then WE must be the impetus of change and thus WE cannot allow the seemingly perpetual “business as usual” attitude there to continue unabated and still expect any real change to our economy, our current moral fiber, our total lack of respect as a leader of the free world, nor can we ever expect a return to our Judaeo/Christian foundations. It is not too late, but it is getting there! I will probably misquote Einstein here, but he said in affect: ‘The true definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result’. With that being said; Senator this, Congressman that, or Governor so and so, only tells me that they have already dined at the trough and are tying on their bibs for another go at the feast.

    • I agree Jake, I have been listening and watching but Trump does make me have a few questions. I like his attitude, but lately I have been noticing some statements that bother me. He says he is pro life and yet he also says he would fund planned parenthood. He also said women’s health care should be fully funded. What does he mean by that? I am pro life and that is one reason I am torn. It’s a good thing I don’t have to choose right now, Arkansas primary is a little further along.

      • Unfortunately loopy, we are not going to agree with everything each candidate is saying, after all, they all try to please as many people as possible while still straddling the proverbial fence. I think we must separate the rhetoric from the gist, the wheat from the chaff and in the end choose the lesser of all the evils.. Such is politics, sad to say. I am pro-life as well except of course in very extreme circumstances, as far as Trump is concerned I’m sure someone will get to the bottom of his stance on Planned Parenthood and Pro-Life.
Let us keep vigilant and make a wise and informed choice, our country is depending upon voters such as us.
