Attempting to obey God and follow Jesus Christ our Lord

Food for Thought Award

Many thanks to Citizen Tom, both for coming up with this unique and interesting award. Please take the time to visit his blog, it is one of the most thoughtful and challenging blogs out there. He pursues every topic passionately and tries to give readers the most intelligent and concise look at whatever subject he is looking at. He gives Christians and non Christians alike, a good word and sometimes a challenge to the way they think. And if you like politics, he is one of my favorites. God bless you Citizen Tom, and thank you again.

Now for the rules:

  1. Post the award on your blog. Done
  2. Thank the one who nominated you and link back to their blog.  Thank you Citizen Tom and God bless you!
  3. Share seven of your favorite Bible passages. For extra points, explain why each these seven passages is a favorite.
  4. Nominate seven other bloggers you admire and enjoy! Why seven? In the Bible, seven symbolizes completeness!
  5. Inform each person that you have nominated them.

Favorite Bible passages:

  • Psalm 34:4

    King James Version (KJV)

I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. (This is my all time favorite for one simple reason! When I was facing death, I called out to God, He heard me and took away my fear. When God intervenes in your life, you know it. He answered my prayer!)

    Jeremiah 1:5

    King James Version (KJV)

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. (Reading this, how can anyone who claims to believe in God and follow Christ, deny that the life in the womb is not precious to the  Lord)

    Psalm 100:3

    King James Version (KJV)

Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. (How can we ask if He loves us and cares about us, when He tells us so many times and ways)

    John 3:16

    King James Version (KJV)

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (True Love)

    Psalm 139:14

    King James Version (KJV)

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. (And oh, how my souls knows Him)

    Matthew 22:35-40

    King James Version (KJV)

35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (I know that this is not just one verse, but this is too important to everyone to try and separate it out. It must be considered together)

    Romans 5:1
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: (not by anything that we do, we can never do enough, but by faith in God and the sacrifice of Jesus)
