United States Army Threatened With Lawsuit Over Chaplain’s Prayer to ‘Heavenly Father’ | Christian News Network.

Washington, D.C. – The United States Army is being threatened with a lawsuit after a chaplain allegedly prayed to the Heavenly Father during an event at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, which offended an atheist soldier in attendance.

The Huffington Post reports that Staff Sergeant Victoria Gettman is unpleased with the response that she has received from her superiors in regard to complaints that she had lodged over the prayer, which was delivered last September. Gettman and a number of other soldiers were attending a mandatory suicide prevention session, which concluded with a prayer. The prayer itself was voluntary as soldiers were not required to participate.

Gettman states that she became offended because she believed it was obvious that the chaplain was delivering a Christian prayer.

“The chaplain said we have to have something bigger than ourselves. We need, and he stresses need, to have something divine in our life,” she said. “The entire theater was [then] forced into a mass Christian prayer. … I heard him refer to his ‘Heavenly Father’ and ‘Lord.’” Read the rest: United States Army Threatened With Lawsuit Over Chaplain’s Prayer to ‘Heavenly Father’ | Christian News Network.

  1. Hi,
Thank you for posting this. If this soldier doesn’t want to pray, that is her right, but I beg you pardon, the Chaplain has the same right to pray to whomever he wants to. I have no problem with the woman being an atheist. It is her choice, but I do have a big problem with her trying to influence and stop a chaplain from praying to his own God. She could have gotten up and walked out.
This shows me the rigidness and inflexibility of atheists who are going around touting that they are liberal. They are only liberal when it benefits them and that is sickening.
    Ciao,

    • Amen my friend, although here is the US it is getting harder and harder to have religious freedom in the military. There have been cases where the Chaplains have been told to alter their prayers, that tells me that they are being censored to a certain degree, and some have come out and stated that! God bless you!

  3. This reminds me of an English Literature class that I took at Iowa State University years ago. The professor was a feminist. I wrote an essay on a book that we were studying and I used the words “Heavenly Father” in my essay. She gave me an F.

I know that the name of Jesus offends certain people and the phrase “Blood of Jesus” offends certain people. But I never would have thought that “Holy Ghost” would offend someone. One time I was hitchhiking and I told this guy that the Bible was inspired by the Holy Ghost, so he kicked me out of the car. I guess he was convicted of sin.

    • It is amazing how many people are convicted of sin isn’t it? God bless you Tim!

  6. Speaking of the United States Army and wanting to add something much more positive. A friend of my friends here in northern California was awarded the Medal of Honor at a ceremony at the White House today. His name is Clinton Romesha. He went to school with my friends’ children.

When fascism comes to America it will be carrying a pink peace sign wrapped in the rainbow flag. Beware the enemy within. Beware the tyranny of the minority.

A nation divided cannot stand and the anti-theist, neo-Trotskyite apostates who surrendered the faith of their fathers and their birthright for a bowl of pablum are no less than a trojan horse virus in the body of a once moral American military.

The leftist fascists speak of tolerance and practice censorship, they preach diversity and practice viewpoint discrimination. They claim there is no God yet have a deep seated hatred of The One True God.

Beware the enemy within. The only good news is that the enemies within are making themselves known by the out loud and proud banners they carry and when the internal strife and anarchy they are creating emerges it will be easy for the few good soldiers who are left to bring justice to the seditious, legalistic and litigious by nature domestic enemies who rot the dying body of Western Civilization and who live and breath to divide and conquer.

The anti-theist’s deep seated hatred of The One True God is the greatest evidence of His existence. If there were no God there would be no atheists.

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”
